Snow King and Lady Spring will come join us this year down by the covered bridge on Saturday evening February 13, 2010. The bonfire, lanterns and torches will call them down from the mountain. Once they've arrived, the revelers will parade around the bonfire and perform a Pageant in their honour. On the Snow King’s command, all the merry revelers will Parade back along the torch lit banks of the Kicking Horse River to the Civic Centre for a very special night of festivities.

The Snow King’s MasqueParade is a community festival that hearkens back to a time when neighbours joined together to make their own entertainment and bring meaning to their lives through home-made celebration.

The Snow King has sent a royal command to "welcome the world." This year, he wants us to form ourselves into merry bands of revellers that will circle the fire in a “parade of nations”.

Explore your family's heritage and create lanterns, masques or costumes to show your colours! At the Play House, we'll help join you up with others with similar national backgrounds.

A merry band could create a national flag, wear face paint in national colours, build a giant papier-mache emblem of their national heritage, outfit themselves in costumes or national dress.

Of course, Snow King and Lady Spring will be delighted with you if the groups sing your country’s national anthem or special song as you parade around the bonfire!

All of us "make" the Pageant and the Parade. It's a home-made celebration so all you need to do to get involved is drop in to Play House and get started.

You can make lanterns, masques, create a costume and sign up to join a "national' band. Whatever. Just get in touch and we'll help you get involved.
