| If you'll excuse the pun, when it comes to making some great music, The McGregor Brothers have it in their genes! Brothers Bruce, Bill, Rob, Cam and Bryan's grandfather was Ernest Carter who played bass and sang with his brother Wilf Carter.
Widely acknowledged as the father of Canadian country music, (great uncle) Wilf Carter was Canada's first country music star, inspiring a generation of young Canadian performers with standards like "Blue Canadian Rockies".
Along with Jay Arthur, the 5 brothers have been to Golden many a night and rocked the former Packer's Place way into the night. Ain't that right, Greg!?
They have a legion of local fans who will be out to see them this time at the Civic Centre in what we're billing as a dance/concert. Grab a brew and get up on to the dance floor for some good classic country rock. Bruce McGregor - Golden native - tells us that they'll be pulling out a whole bunch of old favourites from the classic rock and country charts - stuff from the Alllman Brothers,
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Doobie Brothers, ZZ Top, Creedence Clearwater - as well as some Black Magic Woman from Santana.
Travis Pickering will be joining the boys on this homecoming gig playing a couple of sets in between the McGregors. Travis will kick off the show at 7:30pm. The McGregors will come on shortly after that and play two long sets. Travis will sandwich a tweener set in between those. If everyone keeps hooting and hollering, the music's likely to go on until 11pm.
There'll be a full concession as usual with beer and wine, deserts, juices, coffee and tea. Mid-way through the night, we'll send out for some pizza to fuel up for the last set.
Kick up your heels and give the winter blues the boot! We'll see you there!
